Position: Golf Course Superintendent

Education: Successful completion of 2- or 4-year Turfgrass Management or Certificate Program from a recognized institution
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in a golf course management role, preferably at a golf course in the Mid-Atlantic Region; full competency with repair and maintenance irrigation system (Rain Bird experience preferable); must be Maryland Certified Pesticide and Fertilizer applicator (or become certified in 90 days) with extensive knowledge of disease and pest identification, use of spray equipment and recommended application practices; solid personnel management and leadership skills with an emphasis on creating a team environment focused on efficiency; strong communication and computer skills preferred.
Duties: Staff management, labor tracking, pesticide and fertilizer application and scheduling, irrigation repair and troubleshooting, water management, employee training and safety, budget creation and execution, tree work, solid recordkeeping, work directly with Laytonsville GC’s executive team to help lead a successful and sustainable business.
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000/yr plus quarterly bonus potential

Course: Laytonsville GC is centrally located in Montgomery County, MD. The 171-acre golf course, constructed in 1973, is owned and operated by Montgomery County Revenue Authority, a public corporation, which has 9 golf courses in its portfolio. The 18-hole course features bent/poa greens, ryegrass fairways and tees (and a few Latitude 36 tees). 6,390 yards Par 71
We have a strong team here, so equipment and staff sharing between the 9 courses can be done during project or aeration season as available. We want to create an environment that balances hard work, safety, and fun in creating great playing conditions on a daily basis! Operational efficiency is one of the keys to our success, and the ideal candidate will provide convincing detail in how to achieve this.
Budget: $500,000/year operating and payroll expense; capital projects/equipment as needed in MCRA 5-year plan
