"Developing a Safety Program for Golf Course Maintenance"

Mickey McCord
McCord Golf

In one way or another, Mickey McCord has been working on golf courses for over 40 years. He started caddying at Congress Lake CC near Akron Ohio, when he was 14, had a 25-year career as a Golf Course Superintendent, and in 2012 started his own business, McCord Golf Services and Safety.

Since starting McCord Golf Services and Safety, Mickey has worked to raise safety awareness in golf course maintenance, and help Superintendents reduce accidents and injuries for their employees. He has written several articles for Golf Course Industry, and GreenMaster magazines, helped Insurance Offices of America develop a safety calendar and training program for their clients, and speaks to local Golf Course Superintendent Associations about developing safety programs at their courses.

Mickey has degrees in Turfgrass Management from Clemson University, and Business Administration from Ohio University, he is a 35-year member of the GCSAA, and achieved CGCS in 1994.
