We are at:  Smith Mountain Lake, Moneta, Virginia.  SML is considered one of the “23 lakes in the United States that are hidden gems” and Reader’s Digest has listed it as one of the “14 best places for social distance weekend trips.”  It offers hiking, biking, boating, jet skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, wineries, historic adventures, and is even considered a “paradise for swimming, fishing, and canoeing.  We are also close to major areas like Roanoke, Lynchburg and Greensboro.

Our Needs:  Someone with passion.  We need an experienced individual with ambitious qualities to maintain the grounds and the course.  The ideal candidate will have a background in warm season fairways (Zeon Zoysia) and cool season greens (bent).  The Superintendent will direct and implement the policies and procedures established by the Ownership that desires to have one of the best courses in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  As such, open communication is a must to ensure that the vision is moving forward.

Our History:  The course was opened in 1981.  The Course has great bones and is in solid condition.  Our hire will not be walking into a bunch of surprises, but rather have the support of the ownership to move the course forward.  We need the right person that wants to be part of our growing Club who can elevate it further.

Salary:  We do NOT expect someone to work 65-70 hours a week.  We do expect the course to move forward and upwards and someone onsite the time it takes to make that happen.  This will require some weekends but not all and we do not expect 7 days a week.  Salary is $70,000-$85,000 annually based on education and experience.  Medical, dental, vision, paid time off.  Lunch at 50% discount.  Other things available to our employees are life insurance and limited golf around their work schedule.

Informs owners of present and future maintenance activities and discuss activities, goals, plans.

Works with the General Manager on member feedback.

Prepares and manages annual budget plan for the golf course maintenance operation on an annual basis.
