Assistant Superintendent

Virginia Beach National Golf Club is seeking an Assistant Superintendent. Virginia Beach National is a Semi-private, 18-hole championship golf course, located in Virginia Beach, VA. There is also The First Tee of Hampton Roads, a 9-hole short course on property. The right candidate will be self-motivated, hardworking, and have excellent communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• ·        Must be able to identify turf diseases and problems
• ·        Make fertilizer and pesticide applications
• ·        Record keeping of chemical and fertilizer applications
• ·        Assist in supervising staff and scheduling

Qualifications & Requirements

• ·        Must be self-driven and highly motivated
• ·        Must have or obtain a Virginia Pesticide License within 90 days
• ·        Must have prior golf course experience, with an understanding of turf diseases, insects, or other turf related problems, irrigation system usage and repair, chemical and fertilizer applications, and staff management.
• ·        Must be able to monitor moisture levels on greens and make proper decisions on watering needs
• ·        Must have a knowledge and understanding of all equipment used on the golf course, as well as ability to properly train employees on them.
• ·        Able to work in all types of weather conditions
• ·        Must be able to clearly communicate with both English and Spanish speaking staff members

Pay and Benefits

• ·        Salary - $55,000 – $60,000
